What
to Expect on Your First Visit
When you want to start therapy, call us to schedule an initial interview.
The purpose of this interview is to assess your needs and determine
how we can best be helpful by matching you with the most appropriate
therapy approach and therapist. During the interview, you will be
able to discuss the problems you are experiencing and the goals
you want to work on in therapy. You can also bring up any questions
you have about the psychotherapy process, or about ihi
policies.
The
interview lasts about one hour, and the fee is $60 (or $50 for full-time
students who bring ID). We accept checks or cash, but not credit
cards. We suggest that you come a little earlier than your scheduled
appointment so that you have time to read and fill out forms that
may be necessary (insurance forms, emergency contacts, notice of
federal privacy practices, ihi
policies, your hours of availability for therapy, financial information,
etc.). If you have insurance coverage and want to use it to cover
some of your therapy costs, you need to bring your insurance card
with you. Also, bring information about your income so that we can
calculate an appropriate fee for continuing sessions. When you are
finished with your interview, check with the receptionist about
your fee for future sessions.
Approximately one week after your initial interview, the Assignments
Coordinator will call you to set up a therapy appointment with your
therapist. Depending on your needs, the type of therapist best suited
to work with you, and your hours of availability, you may be able
to start right away, or may have to wait a bit, but you can always
discuss alternatives with the Assignments Coordinator.
Free

be.
